Driving through the Greek countryside into Athens |

|
 First stop, the Acropolis! |
You know Yanni's cd, "Live At the Acropolis"? Look, it's the cd cover! They have performances here every weekend during summer, including a River Dance like show when we were there (but no Yanni). It's kinda like the hollywood bowl, but just so freakin' cooler cuz it's at a 2000 some year old amphitheatre. |
The view of the city from the top. |
 Hi mommy, hi daddy |
The entrance to the main part of the Acropolis |
The Acropolis means the highest point in the city. |

|
This here is the best preserved Greek temple in all of Greece (none of it's resurrected by modern people) |

|
 Ah, the famous Pantheon |
Apparently it got the crap beat out of it multiple times. Once it was storing ammunition and gunpowder during some war and it all exploded taking down an entire side of the building. Another time the Italians (I think) were standing on another hill and just bombarding the hell out of it. Anyway, the Greeks are attempting massive restoration so everything looks nice for the Athen Olympic Games. |
This is actually higher than the Acropolis, but it wasn't part of the ancient city of Athens |
 Yay Greek flag |
More city. European cities look so much different from American ones... where's all the skyscrapers? |
Under the temple of Athena also situated on the Acropolis |
Athena's temple is right across the way from the Pantheon (which was dedicated to Zeus I think?) |
