Hydra: Page 1

Our stupid tour set up an "optional" excursion called an island cruise where you basically borded a small cruise ship and floated around the aegean sea for a little while and stop at a couple islands. Of course it was ridiculously expensive, so we booked our own tickets on a hydrofoil, picked an island, and off we went.

The hydrofoils were in a fleet called the "flying dolphins". Dolphis are cool, and they go fast! In fact, if you look at the previous picture, the boat has "skis" underneath it which it rises up on when we pick up speed. It was an awesome ride.

Here we are, the island of hyrda.

there are no motorized vehicles allowed in town so everyone walks (or takes a donkey if they have lots of luggage)

Many of the islanders have boats, it's almost a necessity.

one side of the harbour...

here's the other side

Lots of not-operating cannons here

They have random parts of ocean buoyed off for swimming

The water was really nice

say cheese!

daddy got a little camera happy

but then again, at a place this beautiful, who wouldn't?

Lunch at a sidewalk oceanside cafe.
