Venice

after an almost all day drive from Rome in the South, we arrived at Venice in the North. First stop, the hotel.

After a quick dinner, we drove to the port where we borded water taxis to go into venice. (yes, i did say after dinner, it stays bright for a ridiculously long time)

on the pier! can you read italian?

wow, water everywhere, it's pretty awesome

we started off and soon arrived on the grand canal, venice's main street. i want a main street made of water, no fair! the boat next to us holds the rest of the tour

another streetside cafe! or should i saw waterside

police boats and buildings that lead straight into the canal, it would be fun to live here for a while

ah, famous bridge, you've seen this in postcards before right?

continuing down the "grand canal", the most magnificent main street in all of Europe according to our tour guide.

we passed four gondolas in a row with a singer too!

It was getting dark as we approached our destination...

st. marks square!

Isn't this just so damn cool?

entering the square was pretty amazing, as the chinese say, "people mountain, people see" (aka. there' s a whole shitload of people)

the square was lined with cafes each with their own little tent and quartet/jazz band

this is the doge's palace, i dunno who lives there now
